Hi! I’m Vanessa Marin!

I’m a sex therapist, coach, and writer with 15 years of experience. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Sexuality from Brown University, and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies.

How It Works

I specialize in short term, action- and results-oriented coaching.

I want you to get relief and results right away, so I do something a little different for the first session.

In this unique and innovative deep-dive, we’ll identify what’s getting in the way of you having the sex life of your dreams, and kickstart your love life with proven strategies I’ve developed and tested.

The process starts with a detailed questionnaire you’ll fill out before the session. This questionnaire offers you the opportunity to get really clear on how you’d like to spend our time together. A lot of my clients have told me they were surprised by how helpful just the questionnaire itself was.

I’ll take it from there! I’ll read over your answers, and will design a session to help address all of your questions and goals. I’ll start sharing my insight, advice, and exercises with you. I’ll also gently lead the session, so you won’t have to worry about awkwardly trying to figure out what to say next.

The very next day, you’ll get an organized report of everything we talked about, including specific exercises to try and a game-plan for the next few weeks.

I’ll review your answers, and will prepare a customized assessment session. I’ll map out a gameplan of how I see us working together over the next three months to plow through your challenges and help you start having a more satisfying sex life.

Then we’ll meet every other week to dive in even deeper, and give you specific exercises to work on in between sessions. I’ll gently hold you accountable to the changes we discuss.

I’ll also check in with you via email in between sessions, to make sure you’re keeping your momentum.

We’ll also track your progress and celebrate your wins together!

Since the sessions are every other week, you’ll still have plenty of time to tend to the other things in your life, while keeping your commitment and momentum going.

There’s also an option for me to work with both you and your partner, to support your growth as a couple!

My main skill as a sex therapist is helping you stop feeling embarrassed about sex, and start having more fun in the bedroom.

I specialize in working with busy, modern couples and individuals. You have a million things fighting for your attention on a daily basis, and you’re exhausted and overwhelmed. You know that great sex can turn your day around, but sometimes it feels like too much of a struggle to even get there. You know, deep down inside, that you want and deserve more, but you’re just not sure how to get there.

I’m so good at working with these kinds of challenges because I experience them myself! My husband and I have been together for over a decade, and we know what it’s like to miss that Honeymoon stage. We both have to manage daily struggles against our to-do lists. We know how easy it is to flop down on the sofa with take-out instead of taking the time and making the effort to be intimate with each other. I get a lot of the struggles that you’re going through!

I know that sex is a tricky topic for most people, so my goal is to set you at ease within the first few minutes of every session.

I’m compassionate, warm, and professional, but I also have a sense of humor. I’m there with you when things get emotional, and I will definitely make you laugh when things are more light-hearted. I’m very enthusiastic about my work, and my passion tends to come across in session.

I’ve been doing this work since 2002, and have bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Human Sexuality from Brown University and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. I have helped thousands of people in almost every situation. When it comes to sex I’ve seen it all, and I’ll support you in your individual situation in a confidential and compassionate way.

My particular brand of sex therapy focuses on giving you specific, concrete advice, exercises, and techniques. We don’t just talk about what’s going on; you’ll also get homework assignments and action items.

Examples can range from something as simple as doing one kind thing for yourself, to something more complex, like using a particular masturbation technique.

From there, we’ll talk about the techniques that you tried out between sessions, and get a sense of what worked and what didn’t. We’ll make adjustments to the exercises, and give you some new ones to try.

We’ll keep refining the techniques until you feel confident that you’re on the path towards lasting change!
