I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving, whether your plans are to see family, celebrate with friends, volunteer, or avoid the holiday completely. As trite and obvious as it may seem, Thanksgiving does offer us the chance to reflect on our lives. On top of the usual naming what you are grateful for, I also suggest taking a few moments to wonder if there is anything you would like to change about your life. What’s getting in the way of you making those changes? Are you holding yourself back in any way? Feeling uncomfortable asking for help? Perhaps avoiding therapy for one of the six most common reasons why people don’t come in to therapy? It’s wonderful to be grateful for what you have right now, and just imagine what you might be able to feel grateful for next year.
