Valentine’s Day is arguably one of the most polarizing holidays of the entire calendar year. Some people love devoting a day to showering loved ones with affection and appreciation, while others hate its manufactured and commercialized cheesiness. Regardless of your feelings about the day itself, you’ll probably find it hard to keep love and sex far from your mind on Thursday.
As I have said in the past, holidays offer us a recurring, built-in opportunity to reflect on our lives. You don’t have to love or hate Valentine’s day to allow yourself to consider how your sex life and your romantic life have fluctuated throughout the past year. Where were you one year ago? Where are you right now? Are you satisfied with your sex life? How do you feel about your relationship, or about your single status? Are there changes you would like to make? Any blockages to those changes?
To encourage your curiosity about your intimate life, I’m offering special consultation sessions for couples and individuals. If you’re not ready to commit to ongoing therapy, but interested in taking a brief look at the state of your intimate life, this type of session could be very beneficial. I have offered these types of consultation sessions in the past, and clients have reported feeling enlivened and engaged by the work. I’ll help you (with or without a partner) survey your sexual and romantic landscape, offer some suggestions for other areas to explore, and give you ideas for exercises or techniques you could practice on your own. Call (415) 658-5738 or visit my Appointments page to schedule a session today!
