If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I spent the weekend reading Justin Lehmiller’s new book, Tell Me What You Want. Lehmiller did the biggest study that’s ever been done on fantasies.

According to Lehmiller’s research, here are the seven most common fantasies, in order:

1. Multipartner sex, including threesomes and group sex.
2. Power, control, and rough sex, including BDSM.
3. Novelty, adventure, and variety, including sexual activities you may not have done before (like oral, anal, or playing with toys), different positions, having sex in unique settings, or having unexpected sexual encounters.
4. “Taboo” and “forbidden” sex, like exhibitionism, voyeurism, or foot fetishes.
5. Swinging, partner sharing, and polyamory.
6. Intimacy, romance, and passion.
7. Homoeroticism and gender-bending. Lehmiller noted that lots of straight people fantasize about same-sex encounters, or about being a different gender.
